Rebel's Mind Test Video

Here it is!!!!! It took FOREVER to upload, but as CyhAnide says, "That's YouTube for ya."

Feel free to tell me how horrible it was here or in the comments section. I could use some constructive criticism.

  1. Pretty good, actually. You'll have to fix the synchronization in the audio, and you can tell that the game is lagging a bit, but the voice acting was good, and I'm surprised you used Lost Coast. (I haven't played yet, actually.) I have to say, though, that people are going to take issue with the fact that it's obvious that you're playing as Freeman. A rebel wouldn't have an HEV suit or the gravity gun, for sure. Hmm...for the voice acting, there were only two issues, which I think you might be able to fix. The first is that you shouldn't interrupt the speech of other characters--it's an attention issue for anyone listening--hard to pick up both sides of the conversation. Also, you sound a bit younger than most people would be comfortable with--and a lot younger than the rebel picture implies. If you added a sort of intro and changed the picture to imply someone in their mid-to-late teens--like a teenager who's trying to become a respectable rebel--you could pull it off more easily.

All that aside, I think this might turn out to be a good series if you have a good script. The game will do what it does, but the voice acting is the most important bit, and I like your humor. I hope to see a finished product soon! ^_^

  2. Thanks Cyh. I seriously needed some sort of criticism to help me, and this was it. Lost Coast seemed like a respectable choice, and since this was only a test for my computer and software I'm surprised you liked it.

The finished product is basically tied on a string.....and then the title is a problem. I'm a terrible artist, and that was almost me putting my all. I don't have CS4 on my laptop, it's on my Mac actually. Even then, could be hard to get a title using a teenage HL2 male model when my artistic talents are worse than a rat(which probably is why I'm more of a writer type).

The next part of the test vid will be better, using the title from the first one. The audio has been resolved, it was Pinnacle knocking it off by 5 seconds to try to transition it at the start....(my fault??) If I maybe used Audicity to deepen from a f sharp to an e flat, would this maybe fix using the title? I didn't want to resort to this, but as I say, art is not my forte.

The HEV suit shouldn't be that bad, if we just imply there's a different thing to charge like with Opposing Force's PCV.

The grav gun thing will DEFINITELY be a big problem, and saved jsut for me, seeing as no one has dealt with it before Felix's Mind(which I hear you have generously helped him with! great work on the HD quality!)but Corky has made it fair for him to have it, and then there's the fact hat Synergy creates ONE world model for a weapon, which is a big problem in Ep2 from the crowbar to the grav gun to the rocket launcher(if only there was a drop weapon key! and i'm afraid to edit the map file, the Synergy map files are delicate)

In other words here's me: >_<

The script is planned out, though I hope it's enough to please. YouTubers are hard to understand sometimes, and first impressions are vital(you surely nailed yours). I've been re-watching Mind videos most of the day(i've been sick) and I see that one of the key parts is that use the environment to joke often, and slip some other pop culture jokes in there, as well.

Well thanks for the review. Hopefully, it'll work out when I try to get it somewhat worked out this weekend.

    Rock on.

  3. Dropping your voice a bit and figuring out a way to distance yourself from Freeman would put you in the lead against the YouTubers. I can't wait to see the next phase!
